For over 125 years, young women have been part of an exceptional learning community celebrated for its rich blend of academic excellence, sporting endeavours, creative arts and co-curricular activities. Set in the picturesque city of Hobart, Collegiate provides a world class education in a unique corner of the globe known for its scenic beauty, history and warm sense of community.About the RoleFull-timeLeave Replacement for Term 4 (2021) We invite applications from outstanding educators with to join our dynamic teaching and learning faculty.This is a replacement role consequential of long service leave for Term 4, 2021 and our ideal candidate will have specific experience in teaching Humanities and Faith and Life at a Middle School level (Years 5 - 8).   In addition to teaching this position is also  a Year 7 classroom Mentor for which a time allocation is provided.Our ideal candidate will have an understanding of the developmental needs of the spectrum of learners from Years 5 to 7 and be able to encourage, support and challenge students both socially and academically. Our teaching staff are dedicated professionals who are passionate about providing exceptional learning opportunities that cater for a diverse range of students. Teaching staff need to be involved in the wider life of the School and hold a willingness to participate fully in the School's co-curricular program, including involvement as a Pastoral Contact Teacher.Teaching staff are expected to work as collaborative team players and to positively contribute to the teaching, learning and spiritual culture of the School that contribute towards the Mission, Purpose and Values of the School.To be considered for this role the applicant must have:Bachelor of Education and or other equivalent academic qualification specific to the specialist area of education and teacher registration;Demonstrated ability in teaching subject matter; A passion for working with young people and the ability to engage and challenge them in a dynamic learning environment;A comprehensive understanding of current educational matters, including the Australian Curriculum;Demonstrated innovation in the teaching of curriculum and student learning;Outstanding classroom practice and comprehensive experience using Information Technology within the teaching and learning program;Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to interact effectively with a range of school community members;A commitment to the principles of equal opportunity in education for all students; andA willingness to work within the School's Christian ethos and actively support the values and philosophy of the School.Employment Conditions Remuneration is in accordance with the successful applicant’s experience and the St Michael's Collegiate School (Teachers) Enterprise Agreement 2020.St Michael’s Collegiate School is an organisation committed to Child Protection and to the implementation of child safe policies and practices.Our organisation undertakes several screening processes to ensure the appropriate protection of children in its care.
